Introduced by the HKSAR government to regulate hospital insurance plans to individuals, the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme VHIS provides a number of standardized products to encourage the use of private healthcare services.
There are two certified VHIS plans:

offers enhanced protection with higher benefit amounts and a wider range of coverage
encourages product innovation, competition and diversity to meet market needs
Regardless of your age and health condition, you will have continuous coverage.
Conditions that have manifested or been diagnosed since the age of 8 will be covered.
Premium paid is tax-dedutible, up to $8,000 per insured person per policy.
Day case procedures such as endoscopy conducted in day centers will be covered.
Meaning no cap on how much you can claim in your lifetime.
Tests such as CT scan, MRI scan, and PET scan will be covered, subject to 30% coinsurance.
25% of claim amount in the 2nd year, 50% in the 3rd year, and fully covered from the 4th year onwards.
Treatments such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy will be covered.
This is the time during which you may cancel your policy and receive a full refund.
These treatments will be covered up to the limit of HK$30,000 per year.
